Fabien Maman's Sound Healing Research on
Acupuncture with Tuning Forks

In 1977, acupuncturist Fabien Maman discovered the 12 notes for the 12 main acupuncture meridians of the body. He created the now famous technique of using tuning forks and color lights on acupuncture points instead of needles.

Fabien Maman's exacting Sound Healing Research proved that:

  • Tuning Forks for healing are most effective when placed on the physical body. This allows the tail of the tuning fork to transmit the vibration to the meridians, muscles, cells and DNA inside the body, while the resonance of the fork (the other end), harmonizes the energy field.

  • If Tuning Forks for healing are used outside the body only, there is no grounding in the cellular memory of the physical, and any impact the sounds might have, will not last.

  • Tuning Forks must be tuned to a coherent Classical music scale. This means that there is a mathematical relationship between each note. It is in this relationship (between the notes, so to speak) that sound healing can occur. Coherence between notes leads to harmony. Incoherence leads to disharmony or chaos.

  • The tempered chromatic scale is the only musical scale that Fabien Maman would use for the twelve notes of the twelve acupuncture meridians. It provides the perfect stability of scale (both mathematic and energetic) to achieve the precise musical intervals used to tonify and sedate each point (fifth and third intervals). It also offers musicians the freedom of playing real music in their sound healing sessions!

If you are a real musician, you use this scale to create music. Our bodies, for centuries now, correspond to this scale.

  • Tuning Forks, like classical musical instruments, must be crafted from a "noble" metal that has beautiful and sustainable resonance.

Steel Tuning Forks are the only Tuning Forks to use!

Never use aluminum tuning forks on the body, as aluminum is toxic and does not keep its vibration when placed on the human body. Weights added to aluminum tuning forks only force a louder sound, but does not enhance the overtone.

  • Tuning Forks are more effective with Color Lights. Fabien Maman's research is based on the theory that blockages in our subtle energy fields can result in physical illness if they are allowed to crystallize, and Sound, Color and Movement are the most effective tools we can use to dissolve these negative energetic patterns.

Color lights are a perfect complement to tuning forks on the physical body. While the tail of the tuning fork transmits vibration into the meridians, cells and DNA, the light wheel empowers the vibration by holding the energy field around the fork.

The Tama-Do Color Light Wheel uses color that is the vibrational equivalencey of the color spectrum discovered by Darius Dinshah, Master of Color, who created the genius system of measuring the angstrom frequency of color, giving the world a 'color language.' (http://www.dinshahhealth.org.)

  • Fabien Maman's Tuning Forks are tuned to A220.

Fabien Maman chose to tune his Classical Tuning Forks to A220 because of the sound/cellular research he conducted with French physicist/musician Joel Sternheimer over a period of 7 years in the 80s.

While Fabien Maman was doing his sound/cellular experiment, Sternheimer was creating a system of vibratory frequencies for the elementary particles of the body (“Music of the Molecules”). He specifically focused on the musical correspondences of the chains of molecules in the body (protéodies) which make up the organs. Without knowing it, the frequencies Sternheimer used for his “Music of the Molecules” were the same scale that Fabien Maman chose to empower the organs!

For example, Sternheimer found that the molecular chain for the lungs (antitrypsine) corresponded to “G”, which was the same note I used on the acupuncture point LU7 to empower the lungs!

Sternheimer did quite a bit of research. He found that A 440 corresponds to the electron. While the photon brings light into the cells, the electron supports the sound which feeds the proteins which feeds the organs. It is a chain of musical resonance which creates vital energy and chi!

Fabien Maman's musical scale for the organs, tuned to A220, corresponds to A440 modulo one octave lower, and by the invariance of scale keeps the same harmonic and therapeutic quality.

All Tuning Forks are Not Alike

"Since my discovery in 1977, it took 20 years until the sound healing ‘business’ exploded in the 90s. Unfortunately, it has not developed for the greatest good.

Nowadays, if you search for “tuning forks” on the Web, you will find a tuning fork for practically every malady known to man. There are tuning forks for the planets, the prostate and world peace. They are made out of steel, aluminum, alum (a fancy name for aluminum) and crystal. They are even painted in all colors of the rainbow.

Theoreticians who are not musicians and non-healers are lost in the quarrel of pitch and frequency and scale. As we say in French, “ce sont des enculades de mouches!”

It’s time to return to the noble profession of sound healing, not sound selling.

Before purchasing a ‘sound healing instrument’ or taking a class, you might ask the following question:

“What research do you have to back up your product or your techniques?”

If you get answers such as:

“I channeled it…”

“I read it in someone else’s book”

“It’s an ancient practice that was long lost…”

Then you can be sure that the product or the “pioneer” is not grounded in solid research.

Use the following Tama-Do Sound Research Ethic to help you on your way.

To be a noble Sound Healing Pioneer, inventor, teacher or researcher:

  • We must research our work within a laboratory or clinical setting for at least 7 years. We must test and retest the effects of our sound protocol and tools on human cell samples under a microscope to verify the healing effects of specific notes at a cellular level.
  • We want to be efficient and effective in our sound healing work. Research gives us that foundation.
  • We must be musicians and Energy Practitioners of the Light. We must be able to recognize the sound frequencies with our own ear and see and feel the results of the sound through the energy field with our own third eye and hand.
  • We must respect the laws of nature and ONLY work with acoustic instruments that offer the best resonance for overtones.
  • We must ground our healing work within the structures of the Classical traditions of music theory, mathematics, Chinese medicine, Aikido, Kototama and astrology.
  • We must always honor the Masters Lineage who came before us, aligning our work with a tradition of wisdom that has been proven over time.
